Yellow Jasper is an opaque, microcrystalline variety of Quartz with a high iron content creating its mustard yellow coloring. It may contain other minerals or impurities that create veins and patterns. It is found all around the world.
Serpentine was named in 1564 by Georgius Agricola (Georg Bauer) from the Latin "serpens" = snake in allusion to the mottled green appearance of the mineral suggesting the resemblance to some snakes.
Quartz is found worldwide and forms at any temperature in igneous, metamorphic, and sedimentary rocks.
