Carnelian, a variety of Chalcedony (Agate) and a microcrystalline quartz, is a semiprecious stone. Carnelian's translucent colors range from yellow, orange, dark orange, reddish brown and it may also be banded. Most Carnelian used in jewelry settings have been heat treated to enhance its color.
