Brazilian Agate Obelisk • Beveled Base • Brazil • 125.6 grams ~ 147x27x26mm

Agate, a rock consisting primarily of cryptocrystalline silica, chiefly Chalcedony, is a translucent banded variety of microcrystalline Quartz. The coloration of Agates is due to other minerals present in the silica. Brazilian Agate is found as sizable geodes of layered nodules. They are mined from decomposed volcanic ash and basalt from the late Permian age (248-275 million years old) around Rio Grande do Sul.
