Larvikite is named after the town of Larvik in Norway and is also known as Norwegian Moonstone. It is a variety of augite syenite or monzonite consisting of rhomb-shaped ternary feldspars (with a distinctive schiller), barkevikite, titanian augite and lepidomelane.
