Cross-stitch fabric is available in different "counts," which refers to the number of holes per inch. For instance, 14 count Aida indicates that there are 14 holes or squares per inch of the fabric. Similarly, 16 count Aida means that there are 16 holes or squares per inch, resulting in smaller squares or 'crosses' when stitching.
